Madeira walking holidays

Walking adventures with Ramble Worldwide let you discover the best sights and hidden treasures that a country has to offer, and Madeira is no exception. Be guided off the beaten track, explore remote and unspoiled landscapes and let our experienced walking leaders guide you in discovering the true nature of this volcanic, yet green jewel of the Atlantic.

Western Madeira walks take you through the Laurisilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rural windmills and scenic villages contribute to the peaceful atmosphere of this region. Travellers will visit the quiet village of Porto Moniz before ascending the 2000-metre-high peaks, which offer spectacular views of the island.

The east of the island, which is famed for its beautiful vegetation, is home to what many regard as the best walk on the island - the Boca da Corrida to Curral das Freiras trail. The cable car ride up to Monte is another highlight in the east, where visitors can look down on the impressive views of Funchal. With so much to see on both sides of the island, why not do them both on one of our Complete Madeira holidays?
