Walking Holidays in France

Live ‘la Joie de vivre’, the joy of life, on a walking holiday in France across the country's picturesque terrain. Wander charming fairy-tale settlements in the heart of the French Alps, where enchanted, cream-coloured chateaus sit beside the glistening turquoise water of Lac d’Annecy. This spectacular scenery provides a blissful backdrop for our walking trips.

Our France Walking Holidays

Our walking holidays in France reflect the diversity of the nation's landscape. Whatever you are interested in seeing, we have an experience for you.

If you’re seeking a challenging hike, choose our Le Tour du Mont Blanc holiday, where you’ll traverse snow-kissed alpine peaks and luscious ski valleys in Chamonix. For a more tranquil route, join us in the sublime southeast. Here, we stroll Provence’s perfumed olive and lavender fields until we reach Roman aqueducts and papal Avignon. Recreate Van Gough’s Café de Nuit in a shady pavement bistro and watch passers-by carry freshly baked baguettes down cobblestone streets. Then, sample a robust glass of Châteauneuf du Pape on a visit to some of France’s most prestigious vineyards.

History lovers will adore Route St Jacques; following the pilgrim trail, we pass ancient shrines and hear chivalric tales of the legendary Beast of Gevaudan. Or, discover the secret cliff-side village of Rocamadour, where monastic buildings and tiny stone houses are carved straight into the rugged limestone rock face.

Why Visit France?

France’s rich and varied terrain makes it an idyllic destination for walkers of all abilities. Enjoy a leisurely holiday in the bejewelled gardens of the French Riviera and Cote d'Azur, or, meander across wild rosemary bushes on the winding coastal trails of Corsica.

Across all our walking holidays to France, you’re sure to experience bags of history and culture. Remarkably preserved villages, Norman fortifications and Roman ruins fill the French landscape, as well as a string of pilgrim trails.

There will be plenty of delicious French food and wine to enjoy, too. Each morning we’ll sample buttery pastries with a continental breakfast of sweet jams, fruit and coffee. En route, we’ll stop off at traditional boulangeries for freshly baked bread filled with local cheese and ham. With chances to visit local restaurants, you’ll also get to sample rustic dishes like coq au vin and cassoulet.
