Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a hiker’s paradise, as it is home to some of the highest mountains in Europe as well as meadow-filled countryside and vast national parks. The cities here are brimming with culture and excitement, which is the perfect contrast to the vast open skies you can find when rambling down some of the country’s well-marked trails.. Whether you are a nature lover in search of true tranquillity or a city slicker looking for a vibrant city break, walking holidays in Bulgaria can meet your needs. This destination has a gorgeous contrast of natural and man-made beauty, boasting both buzzing metropolitan cities and wide-open spaces of countryside.

There is no shortage of breathtaking views and beautiful summits on offer in Bulgaria, with so much to see and do packed into one country. It has lush national parks covered with greenery, wildlife and winding trails, particularly in Rila and Pirin. The former is a mountain range home to staggering peaks reaching heights of over 2,900m and as the highest peak in the Balkan Peninsula, you can expect incredible views at the top.

There are remarkable natural landscapes scattered throughout Bulgaria, including crystal clear glacial lakes and fragrant pine forests. The country is also a popular destination for a range of adventure activities, such as kayaking, climbing and mountain biking, each of which can be enjoyed amongst the crisp open air. From the peaceful coastal trails and fine sandy beaches to the bustling cities of Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna filled with art and culture, there is never a dull moment in Bulgaria.
